|Benefits of membership
Special Interest Groups You can join and take part in the meetings and field trips.
Currently there is a Landscape Group and also a Nature/Wildlife Group.
A nominated club member leads each group and arranges activities to suit.
Members of the Groups are informed of the proposed visits - some are pre- arranged others are arranged at fairly short notice.
As many excursions are weather dependant, arrangements sometimes have to be changed at short notice by email.
Some ‘field trips’ can be reached within the day others involve a weekend visit. See Groups for further details.
Website As well as providing general information for the public it includes a password protected members only section.
In this section you will find competition results and points table as well as information about the club and photography in general.
Facebook The club has a 'Closed Group' Facebook page where you can upload your photos, give or ask for information and generaly converse with other members.
To join - sign up for Facebook and then apply to join Devizes Camera Club Facebook
You will be very welcome to join the club whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced photographer.
About 35% of our members are ladies so do not feel it is a club for men only.
You can use any type of camera from a basic 'point & shoot' to a high-end DSLR or even a smart phone.
You do not have to enter competitions if you do not want to. You can come along and see other members images or enjoy seeing the presentations by our speakers.
If you decide to enter competitions there are competitions for both digital and print entries -entry requirements are on the Website competition pages or in the Handbook.
We have 3 competition sections - Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced - please read the information on sections before entering your first competition.
Unless otherwise requested new members compete in the Beginners section. 'Beginners' does not mean necessarily new to photography but new to photographic competitions and judging. If you have experience or have been a member of another club you may submit 7 images (digital or prints) to the Competition Secretary at least 2 weeks before you enter your first competition of the season for consideration.
Points are awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd places and Highly Commended's. Members move up to the next section when they have accumulated enough points.
We do not give formal tuition but fellow members can give you help and advice if required. We have practical sessions and presentations on many practical topics.
We hope this information answers some of the questions you have but if you want to know more please contact the Membership Secretary.
Alternatively you can speak to any committee member or refer to this website where you will find plenty of information.
We hope you will join the club and become an active member.
You will be assured of a warm welcome.
